We direct all our attention to your educational opportunity, regardless of background, motivation, or life situation. That focus helps produce success for all our graduates. Since 1985, our curriculum has been focused on today’s workforce needs and the concept of “inventioneering.” IST seeks to develop the knowledge, understanding, and imagination of all students, enabling them to take leadership positions to improve the quality of technology and scientific research around the globe.

    Undergraduate Requirements:

    To be considered for admission into an undergraduate degree program, applicants must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. Depending upon the program of interest, other specific admission requirements may also apply.

    Steps to Enrollment:

    • Complete IST’s online Undergraduate Application
    • Provide a current government-issued photo ID.
    • Provide evidence of a high school diploma or its equivalent (e.g., GED). A transcript may be used to provide evidence of high school completion provided that a graduation date is listed.
    • Provide ACT or SAT scores
    • If English is not the first language, provide evidence of proficiency in the English Language or documentation of attending and succeeding in an English language taught school.

    Notification of Admission/Denial:

    Applicants will be notified as to admission or denial no later than 30 days from the date of the application.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

    How will I learn at IST?
    Using the online IST LMS, you may complete assignments and coursework on your own schedule within the fifteen-week semester. Assessments and assignments are designed to move you through the course. There are opportunities to come to campus and create “inventioneering” projects, work with our highly qualified faculty and learn using campus labs for your online classes.

    Transfer Policy
    IST has a formal transfer policy. Our Registrar’s Office can accept official copies of transcripts from your previous educational institutions and provide a course-by-course evaluation that compares the context of your courses to those in our programs.

    How quickly can I finish the program?
    Your personal progress will be determined by the extent of your transfer units, your time commitment, and your determination to proceed. Traditionally, an associate’s degree will take 2 to 2.5 years and a Bachelor’s degree takes 4 years. The Master’s degree programs are designed to be completed within 2 years. Doctoral degree programs are usually completed in 4 years.

    What will be needed for admissions?
    It depends on the program you are interested in pursuing. Some programs will have additional requirements however, the general admissions process is as follows:

    1. Complete the enrollment application
    2. Submit official transcripts

    How soon can I start?
    You may enroll in classes any time after you have completed the admissions process and have gained approval. Classes can begin after you have been fully admitted regardless of the month or day.

    Does IST offer job placement?
    IST students and alumni have access to career services which include professional development, career exploration, and career planning. IST does not promise or guarantee job placement. IST works with partner employers who share full-time, part-time, and paid internship opportunities.
