Latricia Harper is a caring and compassionate person who enjoys making learning an exciting and enjoyable process for students. She currently teaches at Turning Point Academy day treatment program for severely emotionally impaired students in grades K-12 in the Wayne County eastern region area of Michigan. The program there focuses on shaping students’ behaviors to facilitate their return to neighborhood schools. Ms. Harper’s key responsibility is to emphasize coping skills and behavior intervention strategies to benefit students in their learning environment. Ms. Harper also collaborates with the students’ guardians/caregivers and school social workers, coordinates IEPT meetings, implements students’ goals within the classroom, and completes special education records. In addition to teaching Ms. Harper has ten years of experience providing respite services to parents of special needs children.
