Harvesting energy from ambient radio waves in the air all around us is a new breakthrough by Bluetooth researchers as a way to power our many Internet devices.
The continual growth of the Internet of things is projected to connect billions of new devices to the Internet, but one of the problems facing developers of these devices is power. Typical options that rely on some kind of auxiliary battery-type power are bulky and expensive.
These challenges and new breakthroughs in Bluetooth chip technology are the subject of this week’s Technology Spotlight.
